THE SOUL OF STORYTELLING - WEBINAR

Storytelling is a part of everyone’s life, everyone has a story to tell and this art is a part of everyone, not exclusive to only one person. The Media Studies Department of Christ (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta campus, held a webinar on Oral Story-Telling on 22 September 2020. The renowned filmmaker, author and the founder of the online storytelling platform TallTales Michael Burns was the chief-speaker of the event. The webinar was hosted by Prof. Embassy Lawbei. It focused on the key aspects of story-telling with the notion of it not being limited to the talents that a person possesses. It certainly was an enlightenment to all the aspiring story-tellers.
A robust question hour was held after the workshop to get Burns’ take on the curiosities the students and even the faculty had with regards to storytelling.
The workshop was very well received by students and faculty alike. .
Students generally felt that Mr. Burns was very generous in answering their questions and he helped them walk through a lot of obstacles that one might face in the pursuit of story writing and storytelling. He did not beat around the bush and gave them practical advice to construct a good and effective story.
